Biodefense

For the Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA), ICx Biosystems is developing a rapid pathogen detector for interior spaces that will detect and identify airborne threats in under 5 minutes.

Also for HSARPA under a subcontract to SAIC, ICx Biosystems designed and demonstrated a detection method based on DNA microarrays that will report 100 different pathogens in 100 minutes with extremely high sensitivity and low cost for city-wide surveillance.

Clinical Diagnostics

For Living Microsystems, Inc., ICx Biosystems is developing genomic methods for cost-effective non-invasive prenatal diagnosis using the rare fetal cells which circulate in the mother’s blood.

For another diagnostics company, ICx Biosystems is developing methods of analyzing the genomes of rare circulating cells to improve diagnosis and treatment selection.
